Welcome to Eye Care Specialists

Experience You Can See. Care You Can Trust.

What Sets Us Apart

Choosing who to trust with your vision is an important decision. At Eye Care Specialists, our experience goes beyond the number of years we have been practicing. It is reflected in the expertise of our physicians, the technology we use, the relationships we have built, and the thousands of patients who have trusted us with their care.

Since 1985, Eye Care Specialists has provided advanced medical and surgical eye care to patients throughout southeastern Wisconsin. From pioneering advancements in cataract surgery to caring for some of the most complex eye conditions, our focus has always been the same: protecting and preserving the vision of our patients.

Why Choose Eye Care Specialists

More Than 40 Years of Experience

Eye Care Specialists has been serving southeastern Wisconsin since 1985. Our practice was founded by cataract surgery pioneers Dr. Norman Cohen and Dr. Robert Sucher, who were the first eye surgeons in Wisconsin to perform phacoemulsification cataract removal and implant foldable artificial lenses.

That commitment to advancing eye care continues today.

Experienced Physicians

Our team includes Dr. Brett Rhode, Dr. Daniel Ferguson, Dr. Daniel Paskowitz, Dr. Michael Raciti, Dr. David Scheidt, and Dr. Austin Hribar.

Together, our physicians bring extensive education, training, and experience across comprehensive ophthalmology, medical optometry, cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal disease, corneal conditions, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and other complex eye conditions.

Our physicians have earned board certifications, completed advanced fellowship training, held leadership positions within medical organizations, contributed to professional publications, and served as educators for both healthcare professionals and the community.

Comprehensive Specialty Care

Our team provides medical, surgical, and laser treatment for a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, corneal disease, retinal tears, dry eye, ocular infections, and other vision threatening conditions.

Having multiple areas of expertise within one practice allows us to provide coordinated care for patients with both common and complex eye health needs.

A History of Innovation

Innovation has been part of Eye Care Specialists since our beginning.

Our founders helped introduce modern cataract surgery techniques to Wisconsin, and our physicians have continued that tradition by embracing advancements that improve the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease.

Eye Care Specialists was among the first practices in Wisconsin to use OCT scanning technology to help detect and monitor glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal disorders. Our physicians have also served as investigators in FDA related studies evaluating laser vision correction and have contributed to professional ophthalmology publications.

Trusted by Other Eye Care Professionals

Optometrists and healthcare providers throughout southeastern Wisconsin trust Eye Care Specialists when their patients require specialized medical or surgical eye care.

For decades, we have worked closely with referring providers to deliver coordinated care while respecting the relationship patients have with their primary eye care doctor.

Our commitment to professional education extends beyond our own practice. Eye Care Specialists conducts one of the region's largest continuing education programs for optometrists, bringing together more than 125 doctors from throughout southeastern Wisconsin at our conferences.

Education Is Part of Our Care

We believe informed patients are better equipped to make decisions about their eye health.

Eye Care Specialists has written, published, and distributed more than one million complimentary eye care booklets, newsletters, and educational materials. Our physicians have also lectured for professional and community organizations, contributed to local publications, and participated in community eye screenings throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

That same commitment to education is part of every patient interaction. We want you to understand your condition, your options, and what to expect from your care.
